WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.

The Wicomico County Board of Education and Wicomico County Public Schools says they are now providing a video streaming service for board meetings to let people be able to see meetings online as they happen, and so people can search for meetings later in an archive.

The new livestreaming service will be provided during the Board of Education’s monthly meeting at 7PM on Tuesday September 13. People who want to attend the meeting can do so at the Board Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., but people can watch it via livestream online from a computer, tablet or mobile device.

Meetings will be broadcast here, and a button on the school system’s home page links to that page as well.

Board President Don Fitzgerald said, “We’re very excited to be broadcasting Board meetings as a public service and a tool for transparency,” we’re always glad to have people join us in the Board Auditorium for our meetings, but this is going to make our meetings even more accessible to the community. They’ll be able to watch meetings online as they happen, or look back on a meeting that has already taken place.”

All Board meetings will be saved and available for on-demand viewing.  When they are archived, officials say the on-demand feature lets viewers select which meeting agenda information, they want to watch and navigate exactly to that particular video segment.

This webcasting feature matches multiple platforms such as Apple, Android, and other popular devices.

The Board of Education has associated with Swagit Productions, LLC for this livestream. Officials say. Swagit provides many boards of education, municipalities and counties with a cost-effective, convenient means to engage the local community.

The school system will reportedly participate with PAC 14 on the logistics of showing the meetings on its channel, to let the community watch.
