Idaho Falls Mayor Jared Fuhriman encourages residence to get familiar with how their city works by attending or viewing City Council meetings and then offering input or suggestions. “The move to stream meetings online comes at the request of constituents who wanted increased community awareness of the processes of their elected City Council, and improved overall governmental transparency,” states Fuhriman.

City Council work sessions and regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. The public is invited to attend the meetings at the City Annex Building, 680 Park Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho or view the live steam (and/or archives) of both meetings by going to the city’s web site at http://www.idahofallsidaho.gov.

By utilizing Swagit’s Extensible Automated Streaming Engine Solution (EASE) to record and then stream their council meetings, Idaho Falls residents and interested parties are able to have a front row seat at all future (as well as past archived) recordings of these meetings from anywhere, at any time, and on any device that streams media.

Once the City of Idaho Falls partnered with Swagit and their EASE system (as well as Swagit’s COSMOS camera system) they had all the equipment and technology needed for a full end-to-end “hands-free” webcasting solution that required no additional internal staff involvement for the operation. The EASE solution handles the entire live recording and streaming of their meetings and then indexes and publishes those meetings to the city’s website.
